Windows 8 tiles not working

This week I ran into some problems with my tiles. They stopped working when I clicked on them and they didn’t trigger any toasts when I got a mail or something.

I did some searching on the web to see if others ran into this problem. As it turned out, yep, a lot of people had this problem. There were lots of solutions yet none of them worked for me.

Somehow I ended up watching a video on YouTube of someone complaining the tiles weren’t working, and someone has commented that he should reinstall the tiles.

So I tried it.

Opened the Store, then selected all my apps and selected all (CTRL+A), then I clicked install. It took about a minute then everything was reinstalled.

Amazingly enough, the default system apps did not work. The apps got a circle with an X in it. ( What does that mean? )

I tried again, reinstalled the apps that were not working… Now only one had a cross on it. So I reinstalled it.. and it worked!

Now all my tiles are working again!

Yay!

So the old Fix-all-the-windows-problems-by-reinstalling-trick works still… who knew…
